Overview of Services

Individual Therapy

I provide individual therapy services to adolescents and adults in Maine and Massachusetts. While I primarily work with teens, college students, and young women around anxiety, trauma, and struggles relating to self worth, people pleasing, and perfectionism, I do also work with adults of varying ages and genders/gender identities. Some additional areas of clinical focus include supporting individuals who are struggling in relationships and experiencing interpersonal challenges, as well as individuals who are experiencing difficulty navigating and coping with life changes and transitions. I provide in-person counseling and therapy in South Portland, ME, and also provide virtual therapy to those residing in Massachusetts, Florida, or throughout other parts of Maine.

Therapy with me is interactive, engaging, and meant to be a safe and comfortable space to challenge self-reflection and work towards personal growth. I invest in my clients and care deeply about what is bringing them into therapy, as well as what they’re hoping to gain from therapy. I also believe that finding the right fit in a therapist is imperative. For this reason, I would love to connect briefly by phone prior to setting up an appointment so that we can make sure it feels like a good match for you.

After our initial phone call, you will receive an invitation to complete your intake paperwork and consent forms in my secure, HIPAA-compliant client portal. In our first couple of sessions, I will take the time to truly get to know you and learn the ins and outs of what you’re going through. This is a time where I encourage you to share anything that you want me to know — I guarantee that our sessions will be free of judgment, as I believe that therapy is most effective when open communication, honesty, and transparency are achievable. Regardless of what you have to say in session, you will be met with compassion and acceptance. From here, we will begin narrowing in on your goals to help ensure that therapy is meaningful, beneficial, and supportive to you. I will collaborate with you to ensure that my approach and strategy is fitting for your needs and desired outcomes. This is where we begin to find our rhythm and allow for the true work to begin.

I encourage you to contact me for additional information!

So, how does this work?

  • Step One

We set up a free, 15-minute consultation call where we will figure out if working together feels like a good fit for you. I will ask a few questions to learn about what’s bringing you into therapy. If you want to address something that’s outside my scope, I will be transparent with you and will provide referral options. I answer any questions you have, and if it feels like a good fit, we will set up an initial appointment.

  • Step Two

We meet for our first appointment. In this session, I will likely have a lot of questions for you as I gather information about what’s bringing you into therapy, as well as any relevant background/historical information. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. Within our first few sessions, we will develop treatment goals that align with your needs and will chart a course forward.

  • Step Three

Around sessions 3-4, we will likely start to find our rhythm and get more in depth in our work. Weekly sessions are generally recommended, though some may go down to biweekly sessions once significant progress is made. I will check in with you regularly to ensure that our sessions are feeling productive for you and to ensure that progress is being made.

  • Step Four

Therapy can be short-term for some (3-6 months) and longer term for others (1-3+ years). Either way, therapy is typically not forever. When you are feeling as though you’ve gotten what you needed from therapy, we will work together to create a plan for ending therapy in a way that feels supportive to you. This is your opportunity to celebrate all of your hard work!
